What’s In The Dish
BERBERE is a combination of peppers, garlic, onion and other spices that is dried and ground into a powdered form. It has a full-bodied taste with a bit of heat (spiciness) and is very versatile, complimenting both meat and vegetable dishes.
MITMITA is also a combination spice. It is made from hotter peppers, and still contains onions, garlic, cumin, ginger and other spices. It is also dried and ground. Mitmita also has a full-bodied taste, but has much more heat than Berbere.
AWAZE is paste of hot peppers (Berbere) containing garlic, ginger, salt and other spices.
INJERA is both plate and utensil. Injera is large crepe-like bread on which a stew is served and with which one eats the stew served up upon it. One tears a small piece of Injera, wraps it around a mouthful of stew and eats it.
TESMI Butter cooked with garlic, ginger, cardamom, and coriander and other exotic Eritrean spices. The butter is strained through cheese cloth to become purified.

Welcome to Muzita Abyssinian bistro! Our goal is to provide our neighbors with a unique cultural dining experience. The name and inspiration for the restaurant is our sister, Muzit. She loved to cook and was a gracious host whose house was open to anyone who wanted to eat authentic Abyssinian (Eritrean/Ethiopian) food. You enter our restaurant, you are entering our home. The exterior bungalow design evokes the warmth of a home. This theme continues with the menu and interior decoration. East African artists grace the walls and provide a glimpse of the culture.
The bistro embodies our commitment and responsibility to the community, the earth, and each other. The main focus of Muzita Bistro is the exquisite food. We use locally grown produce to make dishes that are reminiscent of the old country. Throw away the fork and use your hands, the traditional way! This is food and African hospitality at its best.
We look forward to sharing a meal with you!
